The group meets once every two months to join in fellowship and discuss a book they read the weeks before. Toastmasters is an international organization dedicated to improving communication and leadership skills. The club at King of Kings includes some faith-based aspects that members might not find in other clubs. Members find fellowship through weekly interactions, improved listening skills, increased comfort when speaking with groups of any size (both formally and extemporaneously), and improved communication and leadership skills.
Along with Tony Bennett, Peggy King is among the very last certifiable stars of radio, television, motion pictures, theaters, nightclubs and recordings still working today. Shes packed a lot into a whirlwind career of the 1950s and early 1960s, working with everyone from Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr. to André Previn and a three-year association with comedian George Gobel; appearing in films like Zero Hour; singing at the 1955 Oscar Awards telecast; entertaining U.S. troops overseas with Bob Hope during the Korean War; and recording for Columbia Records, among others. In 1961, she married After Six Formal Wear Chairman/President Samuel Rudofker, started a family in Philadelphia, and left the business. I liked the structure of the three parts with the prelude, interludes and postludes, I thought that was a great way of breaking things up and that it worked quite well, as each section of the book covers a different stage of the Revolutionary War.

The "retro" look of the film, in both the present and past stories, ties into current fashion. The use of pastels in the opening credits exemplifies this appropriation of 1950s styles that have been recycled by the fashion industry. Indeed, what seems striking about the film's look is how similar the two different historical moments, 1960 and 1985, look. The characters' clothes and hairstyles stay almost the same in the contemporary and back-in-past sections: Charlie's bouffant, Walter's flattop, Peggy Sue and both her girlfriends' hairstyles and dresses. The r&b club, with its neon, passes as 1950s but evokes the current popularity of neon and its widespread use.
